Dr. Helen Hou is a Director and Distinguished Scientist in the Department of Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutical Sciences at Genentech. With over 18 years of experience in pharmaceutical development across several leading companies, Dr. Hou has established a strong track record in the field. At Genentech, she leads a pharmaceutical development group that supports the oral, parenteral, and inhalation portfolios, facilitating rapid entry into human trials and defining market-ready formulations and processes. She specializes in the development of oral solid dosage forms and sterilized ophthalmic products, with particular expertise in amorphous solid dispersions, particle dry coating, and the integrated development of drug substance and drug product. Dr. Hou earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota and is an active member of the International Consortium for Innovation and Quality (IQ) Amorphous Solid Dispersion Working Group.
