Prof. Dr. Werner Weitschies studied pharmacy at the Free University of Berlin and received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical technology in 1990. After working in contrast media research at Schering AG in Berlin, he was appointed Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Greifswald in 1998. He has held the chair of Biopharmacy there since 2004. His work focuses on the investigation of the behavior of drug delivery systems in the human body with emphasis on oral administration, the development of predictive test methods for drug delivery systems and the development of novel drug delivery systems.
